The Cultural Show

We all have our reasons for wanting to be a different person if we're given the opportunity, but for me, I am happy with who I am especially that I am a Filipino. I know some of you, especially my international readers, might think of my country as underdeveloped, full of corruption, poor and has the worst airport in the world. It is true by the way, but there is so much more to this country than all the bad things we get to hear on the news. The good things about my country is always underrated and are hardly recognized. Though I am proud to be who I am, it still bothers me every time I think of things that makes me proud aside from the beautiful beaches, rich biodiversity and picturesque places.

Two weeks ago, my family and I went to Intramuros to have dinner at Barbara's and to visit the old town with remnants of what the country looked like during the Spanish reign. It was a lovely day full of overflowing emotions as we looked back and reminisced the days (acting as if I was born during that era. haha!)

I wore this outfit two weeks ago to a dinner with my family at Barbara’s restaurant in Intramuros. I was ecstatic to see the cultural show and get a tour of a place that tells so much about the history and heritage of our country. The old Spanish houses were nostalgic and reminiscent of the years under colonialism but were beautifully and magnificently structured. Now I dream of building a house similar to an old Spanish house. The cultural show is what sold me at Barbara's. Another thing to add on my list of reasons to be proud of being a Filipino. As young as the dancers are, they have mastered the art of dancing traditional dances with the natural Filipino vibe (the heartwarming welcome and happy, jolly, giddy, all the other synonyms that we are known for)
[top: from mom | skirt: Seventeen | heels: Jellybean]

I was not gastronomically pleased at Barbara’s but my sight was full indeed. The cultural show was something to really watch. Pretty and graceful dancers were all over the stage showing us a piece of what the Philippines has to offer. Makes me so proud to be PInay! But in terms of food, I do not recommend this place. The food was okay but there are other more restaurants that offer delicious Filipino food.

Do check out Barbara's when you're here in the Philippines and be captivated by our culture. :)
Happy Monday!

  7. Awww I completely understand what your trying to say. I've been living here in U.S. but till to this day, I know nothing can ever replace Philippines in my heart. I can spend most of my time trying to explain to others why I would chose to be there even though we don't have a lot compare to here for instance, but they will just never understand until they spend time over there. =) Anyways I really <3 your blog and our outfit of the day ^_^ I hope you and the family really enjoyed your trip.
