The Philippines is really an extraordinary country. It saddens me however, that most people who live here would prefer spending their summer vacation outside the country. Though I do not judge them, I just think they're missing out on a lot of things.
I have professed my distaste for going to the beach here in my blog before. Don't get me wrong, I don't have anything against beaches. It's just that I don't like the feeling of burning my skin and sweating intensively. I would rather go somewhere colder like up in the mountains because the weather is more appealing to me. But I have to admit, too, that I have always admired the picturesque beaches of my country. I may not like the weather but the scenery is reason enough for me to go there (plus the fact that I love to swim!).
My friends and I decided to go to Potipot Island in Zambales. I had really high expectations about the said island because travel bloggers made it seem really pristine and quiet. It is very far from the image of Boracay where there are parties happening all around, with luxury and high-end resorts available, and with lots of foreigners visiting. Potipot Island is a quiet little island that offers tranquility and seclusion. Though I was really surprised when we got there.
I guess April or any time during the summer is not a great idea to visit the island. All shores were occupied by people and it was very far from the idea I had in mind. I guess I had too high of an expectation? Nonetheless, the waters are very clean and the island itself is quite nice. I just don't like the fact that there were a lot of people and the fact that i had a close encounter with a sea snake. One of the scariest things I experienced so far!
