Crab Mentality

There are so many things that I want to achieve in my life. I want to become successful in my own way. I want to become a legend and leave a lasting imprint in this world. But sometimes, the universe conspires to pull you down - crab mentality, as what other people may say. No matter how hard you try, no matter how much you struggle to reach your goals, there will always be crabs around you trying to pull you down. In such cases, continue to climb and shake off the painful pinch.

Crab mentality is an attitude that I hate the most. If my friends are doing great in achieving their dreams, I am always happy for them. They worked hard for it. They deserve it. But some people, they are exasperated when you succeed. That is something that I will never understand. I worked hard for my achievements. I did what I could to reach where I am. You don't have the right to take it away from it. You don't have the right to pull me down with you. I will continue to soar and reach my goals. I shall leave you be.

What to do when there are crabs around you trying to pull you down? Here's what I say:
  • Calm down - it can be very infuriating to face the crabs around you. You can get very angry to the point that you can no longer contain it and you just want to explode. But really, the best thing for you to do is to calm down. Letting your emotions get the best of you may only lead to regretful results. Calm down and think before you act.
  • Analyze who your real enemy is - sometimes those crabs are triggered by other crabs. This is why you should calm down first and analyze the situation. Find out who your real enemy is (or, it could just be you who thinks other people are trying to pull you down?).
  • Use your weapons wisely - you will only lose if you confront them without any weapons. This is why you should calm down and analyze the situation. This will help you build weapons you can use against said crabs so you can take the necessary diplomatic actions. Do not fight without armors and do not release all your weapons in one battle. Use only what is necessary.
  • Take the diplomatic route - confrontations aren't usually the best tactic when dealing with crabs. Take the diplomatic route when fighting and you can even earn the respect of other people.

I know this blog post contains a lot of negativity. And as I said in my previous post, I can feel many great things this year. Don't worry as said crabs are no longer part of my life. I have successfully shunned him/her/them away and hopefully, for good. I am still very much positive for what this year has in store for me. And hopefully, all of you feel the same way. :)

Have you encountered crabs before?

  1. Jenn let me congratulate you!!!! This is a very wise and helpful post. I am glad to read that you have shut out your crabs, hopefully for good as you said in the above. Don't let you get ever pulled down by others! They don't have the right to take anything away from you. If they don't like what you do/archive it's their problem not your's. It's your life not their's you have to live. You go girl!!!! Oh yes I do have/had my own crabs. And every new crab you have to deal with is always kind of a new situation. You don't get used to it, unfortunately.

    1. I agree! It is my life! I will live it the way I want to live! They have no right to dictate what is good and not for me. And yeah, unfortunately, there will always be crabs no matter where you go. It is just a matter of handling them.

  3. Hi Jenn! I agree with you. I really hate when it happens and unfortunately is pretty common..I think if people success and achieve their goals isnt for luck, they work hard, the only way to fight crabs is jut ignore them, focus well the plans and keeping to be positive. Im glad you take away from your life this kind of people. Looking adorable too, I like your shorts!:) Happy weekend, kisses! xo

    1. I hate it too. Success is something I think people deserve if they worked hard for it. Others shouldn't sour grape for the success of other people. They should just focus on their own lives and how to become successful as well - the right way.

  8. I can totally relate to this post. Sometimes, I wonder, is it other people really tried to pull me down or just me, over thinking it. I admit that I'm such a crab sometimes. If my friends achieved something, well, I'm happy for it but a part of me is not. It make me feel less of a person but I try to use it as motivation hahaha

    1. I think that is not called a crab but more of jealousy. Being a crab is taking actions to pull the other person down. But when you fin yourself unhappy because of the success of other people and not doing anything about it, you are just jealous. I think what you need is to stop comparing yourself to other people. Find what really makes you happy and find what you think you are good at. Focus on that and your own success will follow.

  11. First of all let me just say that you look gorgeous and cute in that outfit. I love the pairing of the top and the shorts! :)

I think I have encountered a crab before. The good thing though is that even if that person continued bashing me in every social media platform she can think of and even blogged about me, I never answered back but continued on with my blogging and other stuff. In the end, some people saw how I was all quiet and civil about it and she eventually stopped.

So, never fight fire with fire because it'll just end up as an even bigger mess. I always love reading your posts as it just doesn't show what you wear or pictures of where you go to but you also give life lessons based on your own personal experiences. Keep it up, Jenn! :)

  12. I will never want to pull anyone down even though I have to admit I still experience envy at times *blushes*. I don't think we can ever truly shun them out. :S Though you are so right, the best thing to do is to ignore them and just keep working on your goals, you go girl!! :)) and btw, love that ensemble, you look lovely! I especially love the top and the shoes. :)

    1. I don't want to pull people down either. Envy and jealousy are natural feelings. I do envy a lot of people. But I don't pull them down. I just let them be.

      Thank you!

  16. "sometimes those crabs are triggered by other crabs." i like what you said here :) i've encountered this kind of situation many times before. and your right about this statement, the act of being a "crab" can often turn into a pattern and a web of people doing no good to each other. its important to realize this pattern so that we can cut it off as soon as it hits us :) ganda ng post na to i like it <3

    1. Thank you, Shayne. Yeah, we need to cut them before more people gets involved making it an even more complicated situation.
