Why Travel While You Are Young and Single

Dress: from Bangkok | Shoes: Payless | Bag: Furla (from mom)

We are young, wild, and free. We are adventurous and up for any challenge. We are thrill-seekers and enjoy the unknown. We are young and single and we are capable of traveling and seeing the world.

I am nearly 27 and my mom always reprimands me for my spending habits. I do spend a lot on clothes, shoes, and makeup but majority of my income are spent on travel. I used to hesitate spending money on travels because I was an impulse buyer. When I see pretty clothes and shoes in malls or in online stores I can't help but purchase them. I would think about it for a few minutes and then I will just shrug off the doubt and click buy. It is not a good practice because sometimes I end up with purchases that I regret and not even get to wear. So then I realized I probably should be spending my money on something more worthwhile. It was when we went to South Korea back in 2013 that I rediscovered my wanderlust. I realized traveling and discovering the world are tenfold more meaningful than all the clothes and shoes I purchase. That is when I started saving for all my travels.

I haven't traveled in another continent aside from Asia but I will soon because I recently got my US visa (my siblings and I were granted 10 years multiple entry visa. Hooray!). For now, I am enjoying the vibrant and colorful culture of Asia and I will be traveling to another Asian city again in a few days. I realized that while I am young, capable and interested, I want to see the world and discover things outside my comfort zone. I want to experience new things that I will remember for the rest of my life. I will have a lifetime to buy clothes and shoes but there are certain things I will only experience and enjoy while I am in my 20's. My life will change when I hit 30 and my priorities will be different when I start my own family. So while I am still single (though in a relationship) and young, I will travel and see the world.

Here are other reasons why you should travel while you are young and in your single:
  1. Priorities - you are not responsible for anyone other than yourself (unless you are the breadwinner of your family). Thus, you have every right to spend your money the way you want to. You can spend your money on travels if you want to. This will change when you get older and when you start your own family. You become responsible for other people and your money will be allotted on other things. While you are young and single and have the ability to spend your money however you want, go on an adventure and explore the world.
  2. Flexible schedule - it is harder to take the time to travel when you become older and have your own family. While you are young and have the freedom to spend all of your time on just yourself, go travel.
  3. You are not obliged to spend money on big investments - people don't expect you to be able to buy a house or a nice car when you are young and single so there is no pressure for you to do so. You are free to spend your money on travels and invest in experience rather than these material things.
  4. You have the energy to do so - being young and single, you have all the energy to travel the world and all the curiosity to explore and experience different cultures.
  5. Gain memories and stories to pass on to your children - with all your travel experiences, you have so many stories, memories, and lessons you can pass on to your future children.
I am thinking of traveling most of my days (even when I am at work) and I look forward to every adventure that awaits me. If only I can earn a living traveling the world and experiencing new things, I will. But I am happy with my current job and I need the money I get from it to fund my travels. But whenever I get the chance, I grab it and look forward to every new adventure that awaits me. I am young and single and I want to travel to learn things and see the world.

Where will your next adventure be?

I am not picking my nose on the above picture, okay? I thought it was so funny my friend was able to catch me scratching my nose because it was itchy on camera and it came off looking as though I was picking my nose. hahaha! Anyway, I came off glowing and reflective in the pictures. I did a lot of tweaking on the settings of my camera but my dress and I were glowing. It was as if I am part of the Cullen family. The print on my dress is hardly noticeable in some pictures because it was reflecting light - as if I am wearing a glowing dress. I did try to edit though but with my limited editing knowledge, everything ended up looking as such. Also, I have been wearing this hairstyle everyday the past few days because I seriously have no idea what to do with my hair. You will see me wear this hairstyle for many more posts to come - until I finally decide what I want to do with my hair.

  3. I guess for me, it's just really nice that my boyfriend loves travelling... So we told ourselves that, at least, two times a year we need to travel whether it would be here in the Philippines our somewhere beyond... I have slowly been doing investments, starting a business, and delegating money for savings and future travels. A few years back I would impulsively buy makeup or skin care products I don't really need... I guess I've matured when I stepped into my mid 20s? :P
