Travelogue: Winter in Seoul Part 4 (Changdeokgung, Samcheongdong, Hongdae)

It was sunny this day and I expected no snow falling from the sky. True enough, there weren't any falling but there were so many fallen. I was happy that on this day, I finally got to see what I came to Seoul for - snow.

Travelogue: Winter in Seoul Part 3

The moment we alighted the plane, it felt freezing cold. I think it was about -7 degrees C. It felt like I was in a freezer and every time I talk, fog comes out of my mouth. On our way to the hotel, I was expecting to see snow on the ground. It snowed the week before our trip and because of the below freezing point temperature, I didn't think snow would have melted by then. To my dismay, there were no snow in sight. It was a 45-minute taxi ride from the airport to our hotel in Yeouido but I didn't see any. My mom and I were both disappointed. We really wanted to see snow as it would have been our first time. Even during our first day in Dongdaemun, Myeongdong and Namdaemun there were no snow in sight. Thus, we were giddy like kids when we finally saw a lot in Changdeokgung. I knew there would be snow here (just a hunch, though)! It was slippery and accident-prone but we didn't care. We were just too happy to see snow for the first time in our lives. My toes were freezing and I was worried to acquire frost bite the whole time we were touring. But now when I think about it, I want to experience snow again. We didn't see them falling from the sky but just the overall experience of seeing them and touching them was already magical to me. Next time - in case there is a next time - I will be more prepared for the snow.

Travelogue: Winter in Seoul Part 2 (Namdaemun, Myeongdong, Dongdaemun)

My mom and I spent our first day in Seoul shopping. We decided to just get on with the shopping so we don't have to think about it anymore in the coming days and just enjoy our tours. My mom and I are the type of travelers who travel for shopping. Other people I know travel for food or for the culture, but for us our priority is always shopping. I spent so much money on this trip that I can't go shopping anymore in the coming months. I even went beyond my monthly salary which has never happened to me before. I guess you can say that now I am broke. I have to replenish my hungry wallet for my trips this year. Goodbye end of season sales!

Travelogue: Winter in Seoul Part 1

2 seasons done! 2 seasons more to go. My love for Korea just never ends. Though it was minus something degrees C my mom and I braved the streets of Seoul. Coming from a tropical country of course, the very low temperature was too much and everything just felt too cold. My nose was dripping the whole time - which you can't see in the pictures, thanks God - and my toes felt numb even with the thick leather boots I was wearing. Luckily, socks are sold everywhere in Seoul and you can buy them at a really cheap price. My mom and I bought some thick, fussy socks and they sure felt warm and nice on my toes. I was also fortunate that the scarf I bought was quite thick and long that I can wrap it three times so it can also be used as a makeshift balaclava. My lips and my nose were freezing especially in the evening so that was very helpful. I can't wait 'til I go back!

To experience winter once in my life was a dream come true. Too bad we weren't able to experience snow falling from the sky but nevertheless, just to see them on the ground and feel them on my shoes was already magical. I felt like I was in a fairy tale! Now I am loving winter and I really wish I can go elsewhere next Christmas. For now here are some pictures from my last trip to Seoul. More pictures coming your way in the coming posts.

Short Post: Unstable

Stability is something that all of us search for. But sometimes there are circumstances that rock the boat, make us feel uneasy, and make you question how stable you are. In such cases, most of us go for flight - either because they don't have a choice or because they are too afraid to fight for stability. But some of us prefer to battle and reclaim stability.

Craves and Sights Baguio Edition: Oh My Gulay, Everything Nice Cafe, Cafe by the Ruins, Secret Garden, Hill Station

My adventure with food will not stop here in Manila. Of course, I had to take advantage of eating at various restaurants and cafes in Baguio as well. Needless to say, my tummy, palate, and eyes were satisfied. There are many more restaurants and cafes worthy to try there but again, due to the extreme amount of people influx the time we were there, we were'nt able to try all that we listed in our itinerary. However, I was happy that most of them we were able to go to.

Travelogue: Baguio City 2014 Part 4 (Bell Church, Tam-Awan Village, Mt. Cloud Bookshop)

Though I lived in Baguio for 2 years, there are so many places there I haven't visited. Even if I go there every year, I feel like our itinerary is never the same. Yes, Camp John Hay, Burnham Park and Good Shephered are always part of my trip, there are always still some areas left undiscovered. This last trip I was able to visit 2 places I have always wanted to. I planned to visit many more places but due to time constraints (brought by extreme road congestion) we weren't able to. Hopefully when I visit again this year, we will.

Travelogue: Baguio City 2014 Part 3

I have always dreamed of having a forest-like backyard similar to the one pictured above. I don't know what it is about tall trees and the cold atmosphere that magnetizes me. I do feel cold easily so I am not quite sure what it is about the cold temperature that amazes me. Hopefully someday I get to live in a place where tall trees grow and the hottest temperature would be about 25 degrees C; where I can drink hot chocolate topped with marshmallows anytime of the day and never feel hot; where I can wear sweaters all year long; and, where I can listen to birds chirping all day long.

Travelogue: Baguio City 2014 Part 2 (Burnham Park, The Mansion, Camp John Hay, Good Shepherd)

No matter how many times I go to Baguio, I never get tired of it. It will always have a special place in my heart. It will always remain as my favorite local vacation destination. Aside from the cold temperature, the tall pine trees are what makes this mountain city so appealing to me. I love how cozy it makes you feel.

A trip to Baguio will never be complete without visiting Burnham Park, The Mansion, Camp John Hay, and Good Shepherd, It is included in everyone's itinerary when they visit Baguio.

Travelogue: Baguio City 2014 Part 1

Baguio City will forever hold a special place in my heart. I may have said that time and again but Baguio is where I experienced so many firsts thus making it my favorite vacation spot. Not only is it very accessible to where I currently reside but it also has a different atmosphere that almost feels like an entirely different dimension. This last vacation was not really what I expected it to be as there were so many "fail" moments but nonetheless it is a vacation I will again remember and laugh at from time to time.

Thank You, 2014!

The year that was has been really good to me. I didn't expect so many things to happen - some were sad but most of them were great. I had a blast the past year and there are so many things I am thankful for. This post is dedicated to the year that was and all the events and people that were a part of it. Thank you all for giving me a wonderful and memorable year.
