Craves and Sights: Cafe Xocolat, Vanilla Cupcake Bakery, Yumi

Discovering new places to eat and hangout has become a tradition of mine. I love eating. I mean, who doesn't? Here are a few restaurants I've tried over the past few months:

Cafe Xocolat
Location: 172 B. Gonzales Street, Loyola Heights, Quezon City

I've heard about this quaint cafe since my days at university. I am an avid fan of chocolates and I swear my day is incomplete without having a bite. As the name implies, I knew the Café Xocolat's specialty would be something chocolate-y. Though not all in their menu are chocolate-based, all their drinks and desserts are. I am glad I was finally able to try this cafe back in December and all I can say is: I shall return.

Product Review: Etude House Magic Bubble Peeling Pack

Etude House has always been one of my favorite Korean brands. Their packaging are just too cute and very attractive. But recently, most of the products from the brand I am purchasing have been a failure. Either they don't do anything to my skin or they do something negative on my skin. I haven't been so keen on trying any products from Etude House lately due to unsatisfactory results. But I still purchased the Etude House Magic Bubble Peeling Pack anyway simply because I am looking for a nice facial scrub.

1 out of 30: Fifty Shades of Grey

Lips: Revlon Wild Orchid | Top and Clutch: Forever 21 |
Skirt: Landmark | Socks: from Korea
Sneakers: Cath Kidston | Watch: Swatch | Necklace: American Eagle Outfitters

Remember this post? I was finally able to cross out one and that is watching a movie alone. I used to be scared of doing this because of an urban legend that circulated when I was in elementary. They said when you watch a movie alone, someone will prick you with an injection containing HIV and in effect you will become a AIDS victim. That story scared the hell out of me and I didn't go to the cinema for a while. I told myself I shall never see a movie alone. I will only watch a movie in the cinemas when I am with friends or my family. But as I grow older, I realized that is just an urban legend. And besides, I will never achieve anything in life if I will remain scared all the time right? So one day I just decided I want to watch a movie alone. And so I did. As I look around the cinema, there were many people watching the movie alone too. Now that I've done it, I feel liberated. I can do this again next time. Sometimes, it is nice to do things on your own and watching a movie alone is one of those things.

Brand to Love: Clio Professional

I love discovering new beauty brands to try. As long as they fit my budget and they have what I am looking for, I will consider the brand. Plus, if they offer such cute packaging, I am sold even more. If you read my last collective BB cream review, you know how much I am in love with the Clio BB Cream. Unfortunately, last time we went to Seoul, that BB cream is no longer available in stores. They are promoting the CC cream these days and BB creams I guess are not pushed back on the shelves. But I still like BB cream more than CC cream as it works better with my skin than CC cream. But, the non-availability of that BB cream does not stop me from liking the brand. Aside from the cute packaging and having a cute endorser - Sandara Park of 2ne1 - I love how their products work well with my skin. This is just a mini review - nothing to extensive - and a very brief one. I am not sure if the brand is already available in the Philippines as I think I saw a stall before in SM North EDSA but couldn't find it anymore. Let me know if it is?

Craves and Sights Seoul Edition: Leah Cafe, Tea Museum, Korean Restaurant Nammoon

When my family and I travel abroad, we usually resort to convenience store food simply because it is cheap. My parents choose to save on food because we spend most of our money on attractions and shopping resulting in budget cut on food. My siblings and I are fine with that because not only do we enjoy attractions and shopping but also because we can't be bothered to think of where and what to eat. We also enjoy eating at the comforts of our own hotel room and we get to eat breakfast buffet style so convenience store food is more than okay. But in my last trip to Seoul, I had to persuade my mom to try out various cafes and restaurants because I want to eat Korean food and because cafes in Seoul are aplenty. Since it is winter and a great season to indulge in sweets/pastries and warm tea/coffee, my mom was sold. We really wanted to try the Hello Kitty cafe this time, but as mentioned in a previous post, both branches were taken down. I don't know if there is still a Hello Kitty cafe somewhere in Seoul and if there is, I will find it on our next visit! For now, here are some that we tried:

Travel Tips for South Korea

As you are aware by now, I just can't get enough of South Korea. It has become my favorite travel destination. It's not just because I love Kpop and Kdrama and Kcosmetics, but the overall vibe and how the city has welcomed me was just memorable. Of course, just like any other tourist, I didn't come there the first time unarmed. I did an intensive research months prior to our departure. If you are also planning to go here some time soon or in the future, keep in mind the tips I will share below:

Travelogue: Winter in Seoul Part 8 (Insadong and Namsan Tower)

We spent our last day in Namsan Tower and some last minute shopping in Myeongdong. My mom and I decided not to enter the tower anymore as we basically already had a view of the city from the cable car. But going to the tower grounds is still highly recommended as there are various sights to see there and some souvenir shopping as well. It was very cold and windy at the grounds so we decided to stay there only for a few minutes. Though I love the cold weather, it was unbearable when the wind blows.

We also went to Insadong as it is one of my mom's favorite areas in Seoul. It is a traditional mixed with modern neighborhood that is full of artistic vibe. I am impressed at how well Korea was able to preserve their culture and tradition. It just shows how proud they are of where they came from and how their culture has affected their modern society. I wish more cities are like this: taking pride of their culture and heritage. Anyway, enjoy the pictures!
