Designer Fixation

Fashion need not be expensive - or so I thought. I used to think that spending more than a thousand pesos for clothes and bags is ridiculous. I would smirk at people who uselessly spend a lot of money on such items just because it has a brand. That is until I decided to give it a try. And now there is no turning back. While I still think it is ridiculous to spend so much money on designer clothes, bags on the other hand are a different think. The soft texture of leather and the crisp smell make me fall for them every time. Even when I tell myself no, as a self-confessed low EQ person, I could not resist.

Just like this Ted Baker bag. This isn't really designer designer like Prada or Dior or Givenchy but still expensive for a middle-class, middle-wage earner like myself. I got this on discount at the San Francisco Premium Outlets but converted into my local currency it is still quite expensive. My mind was set on finding presents for my family only. But I had time to spare so I entered the Ted Baker store. Lo and behold, this bag was sitting right at the front of the store. I already saw this bag at the website prior to my San Francisco trip but did not expect it to actually be there. I tried looking at other stores to distract myself but it kept haunting me. I had to go back. I had to purchase it. And so I did. Now I am obsessed.

My designer bag fixation all started when I decided to buy my black Furla bag at Incheon International Airport last January 2015. I could never get myself to but anything for more than 2,000.00PHP especially a bag. But I needed one that looks professional I can use for meetings. I did not intent to buy anything designer - at all. I was just looking for something. When we found the bag I consulted with my mom. I was skeptical at first because I have never spent such amount on anything other than my iPad perhaps. And for a bag? I was not that comfortable. But she talked me through it and I gave in. I was in-love with the bag. I didn't think it would be the start of many other purchases. I thought it would be the one in only 2 designer bag purchase I intend to make (the next one would be my ultimate dream bag, Chanel 21 Classic Large Flap Bag). Wrong. It was only the beginning of many purchases (until I am able to buy my dream bag, maybe).

Once you go designer there is no turning back (unless I become broke). Myself from about 2 years ago would think I am superficial and shallow. My old self would cringe at me for spending on designer bags. Sometimes I am annoyed for allowing myself to go down the rabbit hole. But I am already there. What else can I do? I don't regret any of my purchases anyway and I am very happy with each of them. The sense of satisfaction I get by merely looking at them and whenever I wear them is incomparable to anything. I may be spending a ridiculous amount but I consider them personal investment. And I simply love all of them.

P.S.
I am back! Thank you for the kind words and understanding. Now I feel re-charged and excited to be blogging again!

  5. Nice bag! Bags are the only fashion item I would spend a ridiculous amount of money on. I think of it as an investment piece. Just won't go broke trying to get it lol

  9. Welcome back!! I hope your vacation was relaxing and fun :)
That bag looks so pretty and I like the color you chose. The whole combination is very soft and girly. I have not purchased a designer bag before, unless you count Coach which I don't because so many people buy those they are sooo common. I can't seem to bring myself to buy an expensive bag mostly because for now I don't have any occasions where I'll need it. But I do want to start sometime soon so I can accumulate a collection for when I do need some haha

  10. Your bag is beautiful, I like the bow detail, and it looks so nice with your outfit :)

I'm a big fan of designer bags, I have far too many I think, haha! But I definitely think they are good investments, what other items can you get from a designer and wear multiple times a week for years? Shoes show wear and clothes I'm too clumsy to keep clean for long, hehe! I think bags are worth splurging on now and then, it's good to treat yourself :)

    Hope you're having a great week :)

  11. The bag is breathtakingly beautiful. I agree, bags are expensive (especially designer ) but they last a lot longer so I always think it's a worthy splurge.

  14. It is! I couldn't get my mind off it when I saw it. And I agree. They may be expensive but they do last a long time. Worth the splurge!

  15. Thank you! Totally agree! Bags are the only thing you can wear everyday without people looking grossed out. Yes, we work hard so we definitely deserve to treat ourselves with a good bag once in a while.

  16. It was, thank you! I had a lot of fun!
Well my bags aren't designer, designer like Prada or Chanel because I still cannot afford those. But they are branded and are expensive when I convert to my local currency. Not so much a splurge for some people but to me they are.

  22. Thank you! Surprisingly you can. It may not be a color that some people will see as neutral but it gives that feminine and cute vibe to an outfit.
