Burlingame (San Francisco, California, USA)

Oh, San Francisco! You stole my heart (and money)!

If there is one place in the US that I was really keen to visit, it would be none other than San Francisco. Some of my favorite bloggers like Julia Engel (though she recently moved to a different city) and Kate Ogata are based there so why wouldn't I want to visit? More than New York or L.A. or Florida, San Francisco piqued my interest since Charmed (who else here remembers this phenomenal TV series?). The charming houses, the hipster vibe, the upscale neighborhoods - everything about San Francisco draws me in. I may not want to visit again soon (because it is hella expensive!) but I would again in the far future.

On our first day in San Francisco, we decided to visit Burlingame for a day. Our hotel (Hyatt) offers free shuttle ride to downtown Burlingame daily. You can ask the receptionist when you check-in for the schedule of the shuttle if you plan to visit. I must say Burlingame is a very charming small town with quaint houses and small shops. When I say small shops I mean it in a literal way; as in the sizes of the shops are small. They don't have large shopping malls which I am used to see in Manila. What they have instead are small rows of shops and restaurants that line up the main street. Some of the shops are big name brands despite the small size like J.Crew, Sephora and The Gap. One of my aunt's favorite stores here is Encore which is a store that sells secondhand designer clothes, shoes and accessories. She managed to score a Stuart Weitzman heels for only $70! The only thing I bougt here is makeup from Sephora. I am well aware that there is a plethora of Sephora's in downtown San Francisco but I decided to purchase here instead because I couldn't wait for another day to shop in Sephora.

I love the small town ambiance of Burlingame and how relaxed it felt. It is a nice new environment; far from the high-rise towers and bustling noise of a metropolis I am used to. The quaint houses and restaurants made strolling around the area more inviting. What a great way to kick-off our vacation in San Francisco!
