Summer Makeup Routine

The cold season was short lived (and I really wish it could be longer) and summer has finally arrived. With the change of season, I also decided to switch up a few makeup products. I don't normally pile on makeup but I tend to wear more during the cold season. But now that it started to become hot and humid I wear less makeup. I sweat a lot so I skip on anything with coverage during the summer (though I would dab a few dots of concealer under my eye - just under my eye).

Primer - this is an important part of any summer makeup because this will help keep your makeup together throughout the day. I am still in-love with the Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser primer because it holds my makeup throughout the day and gives a velvety smooth finish.

CC Cream - this does not contain any coverage but provides a nice glow and even complexion. I may be skeptical about this particular product but because it contains SPF and I like the glowing effect, I am still using it. But on other days I will use the Sugao Air Fit CC cream. It is a lightweight, mouse type CC cream that feels smooth on the skin and has SPF 23PA ++. It may not be the highest SPF amount but I love the overall feel and texture of this CC cream. It is great for hot and humid days.

Cream blush - I tend to use cream blush or cheek tints (though I don't own one of the latter at the moment) during summer because it stays on longer compared to powder blushes. I am currently using the Vely Vely Choc Choc Water Cushion Blusher in Pink Coral. This comes out more as peach/orange than pink but I like the warm effect on my skin. This is also super pigmented so I try to be careful when pressing the cushion.

Setting spray - I use this to add strength in keeping my makeup in tact.

Powder - I then set everything using a powder. To be honest the only reason I bought this powder is because of My Melody but I don't recommend it. I like the fact that it doesn't cake on my skin (because it has no coverage) and it does not have a white cast (which is very common for translucent powders) but it cannot control the oiliness of skin. I grease in the shortest time I have ever experienced (like in 2-3 hours I start to oil tremendously). So for oily skinned people like me, I highly recommend Banila Co's Prime Primer Finish Powder as this is by far the best in oil control powder I have ever tried especially during summer.

And the usual face makeup that I put on: Anastasia Brow Pomade to keep my eyebrows in place; Leun Waterproof mascara to prevent smudging and keep my eyelashes looking long and volumized; and, Tarte Amazonian Lip Butter in Watermelon. Sometimes I would put a gel glitter shadow on my eyes for an extra brightening effect but on most days I keep it simple like this.

What changes do you implement for your summer makeup routine? How do you prevent your makeup from melting? Share your thoughts! I would love to read them.

  8. I can relate to skipping heavy coverage products with just some concealer underneath the eyes during the warmer months! Ah, I wish it was warm enough over here to start thinking about summer makeup routines; for now I'll live vicariously through your lovely beauty selections haha :) Speaking of which, I love the sound of the Anastasis Brow Pomade!

  13. The cream blush colour is stunning ! Lovely selection. I also agree a setting spray and a primer is a must for Summer make-up to not melt of your skin.

  17. They are all really good (except maybe for the CC cream - I am not a huge fan).

  18. Yes! I love it! And it is very pigmented which made me love it even more (though I did put on too much the first time I used it because I did not think it would be that pigmented).

  19. You should! Except for the CC cream which I don't really recommend.

  21. Thank you! Yes! But I prefer the de-slick version more than this all-nighter one. I find the former to be more effective in keeping my skin less oily throughout the day.

  22. Ahahaha! But if it is warm all year round (like where I live) you kinda wish for cooler weather (or cold weather) at some point. People really are insatiable. Yes, I love the brow pomade so much! I like how it doesn't smudge even when it is sweltering hot outside and keeps my eyebrow hairs in place.

  23. Light is always ideal for summer. Thank you! Followed you too.

  24. Thank you! I would recommend the de-slick one. It is more effective in keeping your skin less oily than this one.

  25. It is! I cannot imagine my makeup routine without a setting spray especially for summer!
