These makeup brushes has gone viral on Facebook. At one point, my timeline was filled with shared links of these gorgeous makeup brushes. These are every unicorn and mermaid fantasy dreams fulfilled. I guess everyone can agree with me when I say that these are the cutest makeup brushes in existence. But are they worth the hype?
I can't say anything good about the shipping because it took exactly 5 weeks before I received a notice from my local post office that I have a package. It did say in their website that shipping takes 3-5 weeks but seriously, that is just way too long! Even asos that ships all the way from the UK takes roughly around 2-3 weeks only! And these brushes were shipped from China which is not that far from where I live so I don't understand why it had to be that long! But anyway, at least they say it on their website. You just have to be patient if you want to order anything from them.
This is another aspect that I am not happy about. The packaging is too cheap! I guess you get what you pay for. I was expecting it to arrive at least in a pouch so it is protected while in transit. But nope! All you get is a plastic for each of the brushes and another big one for the set. And the plastic is not even high quality plastic. It easily tear when I opened it. This is the first thing anyone will see when they purchase anything so I expected they would present the brushes in a nice way. But it was the opposite. I was disappointed and even thought the brushes were low quality too and not worth the money I spent and time I waited for it to arrive (and queue at the post office). It was the worst packaging.
But despite the long shipping time and poor quality packaging, everything went brighter the moment I touched the bristles. I am very particular with the softness of my brushes because I have sensitive skin. I can get irritated easily. So when I touched the bristles, I was relieved that it is as soft as a unicorn's hair. It compares to the softness of my Sonia Kashuk brushes. I love how soft it is! Like cashmere only better because it is made of rainbows and unicorn hair (but really, it is made only of nylon as stated in their website so no unicorns were harmed during production).
Though the bristles were super soft, I am quite indifferent to the handle. I was happy with how the handle looks like but again, it is not the best quality. One of the brushes felt like the handle is going to separate from the metal because it is shaky (though thankfully it won't. I tried to pull it but it won't come off). The handle also feels like cheap plastic which is both a good thing and a bad thing. A good thing because the brushes felt light that makes it easy to use and apply makeup with. A bad thing because it feels cheap.
I did not expect much because initially I can't even tell if there is already something on the brush. When I first used the angled brush for the blusher I couldn't tell whether there is enough product already on the brush. I don't know if I should continue to swipe on the blusher or swipe it on my face. The multi-colored bristles make it difficult to see. But when I decided there is already enough product (even when I couldn't really tell) I was surprised by how much product is already on the brush. It picked up the blusher well and packed on the pigment even with a few swipes/swirls. The buffer brush also blended the CC cream really well (see photos below).
While I really hate the long shipping time and the packaging, I am quite happy and satisfied with these brushes. I was impressed by how soft the bristles are and how it does what it is supposed to do: to facilitate easy makeup application. It blends liquid makeup products well and packs on color intensely. I would recommend these brushes but only if you are patient enough. And don't expect too much (especially with the packaging) because well, you only paid $20US anyway!
